TOURING LAGOS
Many Lagosians wonder what it’s
like to stand on a pedestrian bridge or a visit to the slums and the suburban
areas of Lagos. Believe it or not, they become clueless when asked of a
particular location within those suburban areas such as Ojota, Oshodi, Agege,
Ketu, Alimosho, Alagbado and Ajegunle (well Ajegunle can be an
exception). I don’t blame many of them; they've never really had the chance or a
good cause to visit such places, besides, those areas of Lagos have been labelled many times as “dirty and unsafe”. This motivated me to take on a tour around
Lagos which I named “THE LAGOS THEME”, the essence of this particular journey
was to see for myself, research and document (in a photo gallery which I also
named “The Lagos Theme”).
@Slumbook5: Friday 8pm: #lekkiexpressway traffic has been an every-working-day's challenge ever since the road constructions on the express-way This is an iconic view that will probably never be seen once the #lekkiexpressway is complete. #thelagosthemehttp://instagr.am/p/QeOcHuEUCH/
Using the “Instagram” app I am
able to take photos wherever I am, edit them and upload to my social feed. It
also became necessary that each of my photos has a story behind them and that
the story is told along with the photos. However, during my research on touring Lagos, I
discovered many changes and losses…

VINTAGE 5
Presently working on my second trip which is on “Vintage cars”, but i take pictures of anything in particular of interest. The ‘Vintage cars’ collection is still a part of “The Lagos Theme” album; it’s a documentation of abandoned vehicles in Lagos and this was the first to be taken...

My first trip was to the popular
Lekki-beach resort, a very beautiful landscape with local tents, good
music vibe and rich coconut trees. Unfortunately, today, Lekki-beach is a
place where hooligans thrive (so many say), but I saw the opposite of what many
said about this place; it’s actually a safe haven. Many white expatriates,
Chevron workers and families come here to spend a good afternoon on weekends. I also discovered a shocking
truth behind the beauty of Lekki-beach; the beach sand is rapidly eroding away
which simultaneously destroys the coconut trees within its path. In
other words, these are “The Last Trees of Lekki-beach” (as titled on Instagram).
This photo tells the shocking truth behind the beauty of #lekkibeach. It's indeed a dying beauty... These are "The Last Trees of Lekki Beach" | #thelagostheme http://instagr.am/p/QdOyBZEUKp/
